Creating student roster There are 2 ways to add students to your Artsonia roster - individually or through a spreadsheet that you send to Artsonia. Below is a video that takes you through the process.
The easiest way to begin is to see if your school secretary can provide you the list with the info the way that Artsonia requests it. You will need to know how to add names individually so that when students enroll in your school mid year you can add them. Student Roster Set up from J. Sayers on Vimeo. |
Getting parent permissions Yet again there are multiple ways to go about this. Whatever way you choose to do it though I would first recommend talking it up to your students.
When I began using Artsonia, I used it as a way to show my students examples of projects - both good and needing improvement so when we finally started our own gallery, they were familiar with the site. I showed them the gallery I started and talked about how if they got 5 pieces of art published, 5 fan club members, and 5 comments then they would get their virtual "Hall of Fame" trophy. But that I can't put any of their artwork on without parent permissions, so they need to get that back to me. We would also celebrate as a class as new galleries to up & I want to see everyone's work their. So the next thing I did was send out Artsonia's full page permission slip in a bright color - the reason I chose to do this is because it allows me to ask for volunteers to help photograph artwork. Uploading artwork
It seems that Artsonia has worked out many ways to make this program work for us; even when it comes to uploading artwork. The biggest enhancement this year is the ability for students to upload their own artwork which takes a lot off of my plate. I tend to do this with my third through fifth grade students - for this feature you need to set up the classroom mode.
