2nd grade students who finished their Mondrian early got to go on other art websites. The room was a buzz with all of the excited students and their creations which if they asked I took a picture of it and uploaded it to their Artsonia gallery. At the end of the hour Eric really wanted to show me what he did (picutured above). I was really impressed with what he was able to accomplish using Sumo Paint . Oh, and the message was pretty cool too!

As I sat at home feeling the effects of cabin fever due to the storm and severe windhills of 2014, I started to go through photos on my iPad and came across one from November 18th, 2013 where once again weather changed the plans for the day. As background to the photo we had had severe storms rip through the area the evening before which brought high, tornadic like winds to the area. This storm caused power to be knocked out to our school and students had to be transferred to the Middle School. On the way over to the middle school I kept wondering "what am I going to do?" I want to do something that is art related and relatively productive and then it hit me - students would create mazes. Thanks to Sherry Stout, the middle school art teacher, for the paper and markers this lesson was possible. Students really enjoyed the activity and didn't miss a creative beat while at another location. As you can see students are totally into what they are doing, even if it was an unusual location/situation. |
