While traditional art is my focus for a child's education; I also encourage digital art and think it is another important aspect of today's learning opportunities. So this year I wrote a grant to the Tri-Creek Education Foundation (T-CEF) to get some iPads in the art room.
Our children's Art room benefited from a grant entitled: Art Connects: digital citizenship, collaboration, & creativity. We received the grant which was to purchase 4 ipads, cases, and other accessories.
Well, I'm never one to let a good opportunity go by or not to get the biggest bang for a buck, so on Thanksgiving I stood out in line for 4 hours to be get the iPads on sale. While it meant that the turkey consumption and festivities were kept to a minimum & the weather was quite chilly - the pay off was that we were able to stretch the number of iPads to 6.
Access to iPads on a regular basis will expand learning opportunities for our students from animation to photography to writing to art creation.
This educational opportunity was made possible with funding by the Tri-Creek Education Foundation, Inc. As a result of its fundraising success, the Foundation is able to provide grants for innovative projects like this activity. My class and I are grateful for the Foundation’s support in enhancing student learning throughout the school corporation.
