From now until May 16th, any student who participates in Artsonia and receives their Hall of Fame trophy will be entered into a raffle. The winner of the raffle will get a t-shirt with one piece of their artwork on it. In order to get their Hall of Fame trophy they need 5 pieces of artwork (which I am trying very hard to make sure they all have that), 5 fan club members, and 5 comments from fan club members. The fan club members and comments must be approved by parents in order for them to count. | Have you written a comment for your child?Do you know how to login & check comments? |

Lake Prairie Art News, Mar. 20 from Ms. Sayers, Lake Prairie's Art Teacher With the art show quickly approaching, I am looking for few volunteers who would be willing to mount & tag artwork, hang artwork, or take down art work once our show is over. Students work will be in the halls for Grandparents day, April 10th & 11th, & I try to have one piece of artwork for each student. Without volunteers that makes for a very time consuming process for me. So if you would consider donating a couple of hours, please let me know. How appropriate that the Lego Movie has come out at the same time that Lake Prairie will be offering a Stop Animation Club. Stop animation is where you set up a scene with characters & take a picture. Then move the character or characters a little and take another picture. You repeat this process with little changes and then put it together to make a movie. With very short intervals between photos it appears that the object is moving. You can use anything to make the movie from Legos to clay to cars to McDonalds toys - if you have any extras of these items, please let me know. Using the iPads, we use stop-motion animation to bring figures to life! By using your child's amazing imagination, they will create stop-motion animation movies that not only encourage the development of story-telling, but also provide an opportunity for kids to use movie production tools. The club will take place on Wednesdays from after school until 3:30 in the month of April. Due to limited devices - I will only take 6 students. More details will be sent home next week. I can't wait to finally get this project started!!! Below are a couple of stop animations that I created & one by a student IPevo is a company that makes technology products for teachers that are economical & easy to use. Another feature of IPevo is that they have a "wishpool" where each month they highlight a product and ask teachers how they might use it in their classroom. If your wish is selected, then you get the item for free. Well, in the last couple of months, I've had my wish come true twice!! I received an articulating stand for an iPad to use for stop motion animation and an USB Supercharger for iPads. The supercharger has been a lifesaver because with using iPads in each class, battery management has been a bit of an issue. This device allows me to create a station of iPads, while they are charging, students can still create on them while sitting down. The articulating stand holds an iPod at a certain height so that the students can take pictures without it moving or they can video tape themselves creating a project. When we start the animation club next month this item will be a big help. Thanks to iPevo for this great opportunity Lake Prairie Art News, Mar. 7 from Ms. Sayers, Lake Prairie's Art Teacher
